TODAY IPL MATCH PREDICTION : CSK strategically employs an ideal photo highlighting Dhoni, following MI’s decision to replace Rohit with Hardik as captain for the IPL 2024.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, MI forged a fierce rivalry with CSK, often contesting IPL title showdowns. Rohit’s illustrious tenure as Mumbai Indians’ captain concluded as the team announced all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the new skipper for the 2024 IPL season. The announcement settled speculation surrounding the leadership after Pandya’s surprising trade to MI was confirmed post the retention and release deadline.

Pandya, who played seven seasons under Rohit’s leadership before moving to the Gujarat Titans in 2022, had successful stints at GT, clinching victory in IPL 2022 and reaching the finals earlier in the year.

Rohit Sharma, having taken over as MI captain in 2013, led the team to all five IPL titles. During his captaincy, MI developed a notable rivalry with MS Dhoni’s CSK, frequently finishing atop the league table. Three of MI’s five titles came after defeating CSK in the final.

In acknowledgment of Rohit’s achievements, CSK tweeted, “A decade of spirited challenge! Much respect, Rohit!” accompanied by a photo of Dhoni shaking hands with Rohit.

MI secured their first IPL title in 2013 by beating CSK in the final. Their second title, in 2015, also came at the expense of CSK. In 2017, MI faced Rising Pune Supergiant, led by Dhoni, in the final on their way to their third title. The thrilling victory over CSK in 2019 secured their fourth title, and in 2020, they defended their title against DC, joining CSK as the only teams to successfully defend an IPL title.

Rohit, the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, amassed 6211 runs, with 3986 runs coming as captain. His successor, Hardik, began his IPL career with MI in 2015, contributing 1476 runs and 42 wickets. Pandya, initially signed as an uncapped player for INR 10 lakh, played a pivotal role in MI’s title victories in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
