Mumbai Indians (MI) made strategic moves in the IPL 2024 auction, bolstering their squad with key acquisitions. In a notable trade, MI secured the services of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans (GT). The team commenced its auction activity by signing South African pacer Gerald Coetzee, who carried a base price of Rs 2 crore. Despite stiff competition from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), MI successfully acquired Coetzee for Rs 5 crore. MI further enhanced their fast-bowling department by securing Sri Lankan pacers Dilshan Madushanka and Nuwan Thushara. Additionally, they added depth to their squad with the inclusion of uncapped Indian players, including experienced spinner Shreyas Gopal.

In a strategic move during the accelerator round, MI secured Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi at his base price.
